Anderson Cooper is really, really sorry for calling President Donald Trump an obese turtle. After Trump gave an angry speech on Thursday night suggesting that non-evidenced election fraud was the reason why he was looking, the CNN host wasted no time in insulting the president while he was on air.
“That is the president of the United States. That is the most powerful person in the world. And we see him like an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over,” the news anchor quipped.

Of course, it didn’t take very long for many CNN viewers to express their dismay over the fact that Anderson Cooper would insult the sitting President with such disrespect. The criticism came from both sides of the political spectrum.
After Joe Biden was declared the winner and the new President Elect on Saturday, Anderson Cooper apologized for his remarks during an interview with former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang. During their conversation, Cooper had asked Yang about whether or not he thinks Donald Trump will concede to Biden.
“I’m happy to say, it seems like Trump is going to be, in your words, an obese turtle on his back, just flailing around, Anderson,” Yang replied.
“By the way, I should say, I regret using those words because that’s not the person I really wanna be,” Cooper apologized. “It was in the moment, and I regret it.”
So far President Trump has not made any comments about the matter, although it has been noted that he has gone off on CNN and what he calls the “lamestream media” for their constant and very critical attacks on him and his policies. What’s more, Trump is yet to concede.
