While there are a lot of celebrities out there who like to keep either one name or moniker for the sake of consistency throughout their careers, it looks like Christina Anstead, who was formerly known as Christina El Moussa, is changing her name once again.
Starting today, the HGTV reality television star wants to be called Christina Haack, and for a very good reason, too. Here’s what you need to know.
Christina Anstead Is Changing Her Name
Christina Anstead is not only best known for flip and flopping houses on HGTV, but also for all of the headlines that she’s been making because of her two marriages.
Christina and her ex-husband Ant Anstead tied the knot back in December of 2018 but back in November the HGTV star and mother-of-three filed for divorce. Her filing came a little over a month after she and Ant had announced that they were separating after just two short years of marriage.
Without even giving the slightest hint of what went wrong, Christina shared her announcement on Instagram that she and Ant have made the difficult decision to separate back in October. Christina has two older children, Taylor and Brayden, from her marriage to Tarek El Moussa while Ant has two children, Amelia and Archie, back in the UK.
And now she says that she know longer wants to be known as Christina Anstead, but instead Christina Haack, as she wants to honor the one person who has always had her back in her life: her grandmother.
“My grandma, Mildred “Biddy” Haack, was my greatest influence growing up,” the interior designer said. “She was always real in a world of so many fakes.”
“She’s the only person I’ve ever really trusted with my life. Even in the era she grew up in she colored outside the lines and did things without fear of judgment,” the mother-of-three continued. “She loved me hard and always let me know I could achieve anything I wanted to. She spoke life into me when I was down and taught me what unconditional love is. I miss her every single day. Taking back the family’s last name and know my grandparents are smiling from above.”
Before her marriage to Ant Anstead, she was married to Tarek El Moussa and they share son Brayden James, 5, and daughter Taylor Reese, 10, together. They were married from 2009 to 2018.
