At the moment, Chris Rock is not filing a report against Will Smith for assaulting him during the Oscars last night. In case you missed it, Chris was going around the room, making jokes and when he got to Jada Pinkett Smith, he joked about her hair saying he couldn’t wait for ‘G.I. Jane 2’. A dated throwaway line that grabbed a few laughs, including Will Smith.
However, the temperature in the room changed a little, and Smith walked up to the stage and slapped Rock before returning to his seat and yelling out “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth!” repeatedly. Rock kept the show going in a professional manner and Smith went on to win an Oscar for his performance in ‘King Richard’ and made a speech about being a vessel of love and apologizing to everyone except Chris.
Chris Rock Not Filing Charges Against Will Smith For Now
LAPD was aware of the incident but noted that Chris declined to press charges, though if he wants to file an investigative report at a later date, he can do that. Why more security and police weren’t involved immediately is still a mystery and adds to the theory that this was all staged. Though, if it were just a staged act, it was some of the worst acting we’ve ever seen.
The entire incident is bizarre and ironically, Will was laughing at the joke, to begin with. Making his sudden switch even that much more bizarre. After the show, it seems everyone was checking in on Will and making sure he was fine. No one seemed to care at all about Rock.
Whether you agree or disagree with Smith’s actions, the whole thing seems very strange.
What do you think? Was this all an act and if so, why would Smith have the freakout after he sat back down yelling curses? Let us know in the comments below.
