Well, it’s the thought that counts, right? There’s a new report that says Chris Cuomo tried to keep his friend Alec Baldwin from advocating on behalf of his embattled brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Back in August, Andrew Cuomo resigned from his position as the governor of New York after an investigation found that he had harassed multiple women.

Cuomo emphatically denied intentionally mistreating women and called the pressure for his ouster politically motivated. Here’s what you need to know.

In a transcript that has been made public, Chris Cuomo  testified that both he and his brother know the actor and that an unidentified “very good friend” called and told him, “Alec wants to talk about cancel culture or political correctness.’

“I asked him not to. I said, ‘Tell him to stay out of it. It’s not necessary,” Chris Cuomo said.

In August, Alec Baldwin called Cuomo’s resignation “a tragic day” for New York state. He acknowledged the once-powerful, three-term governor’s “shortcomings” and gently suggested he was “socially maladjusted.”

“Regardless of what you think of Cuomo, this is a tragic day,” tweeted Baldwin. “Party politics in this country draw ambitious but ultimately isolated, even socially maladjusted men and women who, given the current cancel culture, will likely have their shortcomings exposed and magnified.”

Back in October, a city court in Albany issued a summons charging Cuomo after a criminal complaint was filed by Apple claiming Cuomo groped Brittany Commisso, a former staffer, at the governor’s mansion last year. Cuomo, who resigned in August, claimed the charge was politically motivated and based on flimsy evidence.

Cuomo is accused of “forcibly” putting his hand under Brittany Commisso’s blouse – his former executive assistant – and grabbing her in the Dec. 7 incident. Although the name of the alleged victim was redacted, a lawyer for Brittany Commisso confirmed her identity.
