CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that when Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) first came onto the show, he wasn’t well received. In fact, many people couldn’t, and still can’t stand him. It’s easy to dismiss Theo, especially with how he behaved when with Summer Newman (Hunter King) and especially since he just ripped off Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) presentation that led to him getting fired.

However, there’s a redeeming quality that Theo has that many characters in Genoa City don’t have the pleasure of having. Humility. Sure, he’s a bit cocky, full of himself, and can come off as a jerk. Though, this is just a protective barrier, a shield, to protect his softer side that we’ve seen on several occasions.

Especially since he’s been in a “thing” with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), we’ve seen these layers peeled back and present a milder Theo, one that’s not so loud and arrogant, but rather one that’s quite delicate and doesn’t want to come across as weak. He feels like he has something to prove, and doesn’t want everything to be handed to him easily because of who he discovered his grandmother was.

Pair this against someone like Kyle Abbott (Micheal Mealor) and it’s completely opposite. Kyle is much more of the “rich kid” who gets what he wants and can do what he wants without repercussion. We’ve seen moments from Kyle, especially when speaking to Lola about their marriage, but it comes across as fake and insincere. I see Theo playing a much bigger role in the future as he seems to have the whole package. There’s been more development in his character in the last few months than some characters have had in the last few years. What do you think? Are the writers banking on Theo being a big player in Genoa City? Let us know in the comments below.
