CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that while we are watching some Y&R classics during this time of social distancing, the producers are taking fans back to August 17, 1987. With the global pandemic taking over, fans are reminded of the iconic big hair, brown lipstick and bushy moustaches of the 80s. On today’s episode, we are taken on another roller coaster of Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) romance at the earlier stages.
Back in ’87, Nikki was battling a deadly lung infection in private. Victor (the man who knows everything) is aware of her dangerous diagnosis, despite his relationship with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). He is trying to be there for Nikki, despite her being unaware. During this time, Nikki thinks she has the upper hand, whereas Victor thinks he does. Ashley is trying to fight for her marriage to Victor.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Recap: Nikki’s Infamous Illness and Romance on the Horizon
Christine Blaire (Lauralee Blaire) seems to be a hot commodity in Genoa City. Phillip (Thom Bierdz) and Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) are both fighting for her attention. Christine and Danny are on a break, and he is hoping to pick up their romance where they left off. However, Phillip is hoping to strike up their romance. It looks like the ‘80s was the time for dramatic relationships and questionable advances for the bachelors and bachelorettes of Genoa City. Obviously, the classic recaps have been interesting, both in style and drama.
Several years later, Nikki’s health seems to be in full recovery. Victor and Nikki have reclaimed their vows and are now happily married. However, the recaps remind us that Y&R fans shouldn’t get too comfortable with their favourite relationships. What are you thinking about all of the old-school recaps? What was your favourite 1980’s trend back in the day?
