CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) recap finds that as filming has been interrupted by COVID-19, Y&R has been pre-empted by flashback episodes. Today, we had a throwback to 1996 where Paul and Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) had a less-than-perfect honeymoon in Nevis. With a spiteful Phyllis not far behind them, things were heating up.
The happy newlyweds are unaware that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) has followed them to the same island as they relax by the pool. The classic redhead is enjoying the heat with Dr. Tim Reid (Aaron Lustig), who is blissfully unaware that she is scheming in her head. Phyllis whispers to herself, “You’ll be very sorry, Christine,” as she tells Tim that she will meet him later, and she excuses herself. Her brownish-red lips in the scene are a nice ode to the 90s. Phyllis is spying on the happy couple as Paul feeds Christine fruit. Phyllis begins to sweet talk a maid for a key – it looks like she has something up her sleeve. As Christine and Paul get back to their suite, they discover an octopus in their suite.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Recap: 1996 Throwback And Honeymoon Lust
Phyllis won’t admit to Tim where she went, and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) is adamant about not letting the eight-legged creature ruin their honeymoon. The two make love on their bed after the incident. Fast forward to the present day, and we still see the Phyllis scheme – however, she has long since ended her drama with Christine, Paul, and Tim. Now, she has graduated from octopus to blackmail – and if there’s anything that Y&R fans know, it’s that Phyllis gets what Phyllis wants – regardless of who is in the way. What do you think of the old-school episodes? It’s nice that the producers have committed to daytime consistency despite the little hiccup in the filming schedule!
