CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers indicate that star Camryn Grimes teases that her character Mariah is trying to protect her mother Sharon before it’s too late. Here’s what she has to say.
In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, Camryn said that while she certainly has a lot on her plate right now (with losing her job and things being very shaky between her and Tessa), she’s still trying to look after her mother Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), as she tries to navigate through her new life with her cancer diagnosis. For Mariah, she wants to be there for her mother, even though Sharon often tries to look like a fighter who can manage things on her own.

Camryn puts it this way, “Sharon is the person who taught Mariah how to care and how to protect the people you love. She learned from Sharon. To have the first person that she connected with in Genoa City and this person be her mother and really understand what the meaning of that word is for the first time in her life, I think it’s incredibly scary. I think so much of her new identity is attached to Sharon. I think it feels like if she were to lose Sharon she would lose that, as well.”
Now, as far as Mariah’s own future is concerned, Camryn still has hope that one day she and Tessa will tie the knot. The actress said, “I would love to see them get married. Obviously, given the context of everything I don’t know how possible that would be in the near future. But again, these are two people who probably need a little bit more time to settle back in from what they’ve been through.
Maybe that’s a good thing. What an epic story to tell. I mean, they’ve been together longer than a lot of couples on the show. It’s taken a more realistic approach. It’s been a pretty incredible story and to have their love story come together in that moment would just be really powerful.”
