CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R)  spoilers tease that Hartley Sawyer (ex-Kyle Abbott) has been fired from the primetime television series The Flash after a series of tweets that contained racist and misogynist content. The actor, who played Kyle Abbott on Y&R from 2013 to 2014, reportedly made remarks about raping women and some racist rhetoric. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, Hartley’s career has been wiped out in a ‘flash’ after his tweets were brought to attention. It then didn’t take very long for him to delete his Twitter account and make a statement on Instagram where he apologized for his past remarks. He also said that what he said was “not acceptable behavior.” He joined The Flash as Ralph Dibney in 2017 and was made a series regular by 2018.

The actor wrote, “I’m not here to make excuses – regardless of the intention, my words matter and they carry profound consequences. And mine can and have caused pain and embarrassment, along with feelings I can only imagine, to supports and fans, my cast mates, the crew, my colleagues and friends. I owe them all an apology. And I owe each of you an apology. Thank you for holding me accountable.”

CW Producers, Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions and executive producer Eric Wallace all followed up with a statement that said, “Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for season seven of The Flash. In regards to Mr. Sawyer’s posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and polices, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive and productive environment for our workforce.”
