When fans of the original Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness docu-series from Netflix heard about the upcoming sequel, they all had to wonder if there was enough drama left over to live up to the lightning in the bottle that was captured the first time around.

Now, as original villain Carole Baskin attempts to sue the producers and Netflix before the docu-series even drops, we have our answer!

Tiger King 2: Carole Baskin Suing Netflix Over Use of Old Footage

Baskin is insisting that all footage of her, which was filmed for the first season, be removed from the trailer AND the 5-episode series, saying that the repackaging of the old, unused footage is making it seem like she is still on board with the project. Though Carole is all over the recently dropped trailer, she is decidedly not onboard.

The complaint, filed in federal court in Florida on Monday, alleges that the old outtakes Baskin and current (alive) husband, Howard Baskin filmed cannot be used under the deal that was inked with directors Rebecca Chaiklin and Eric Goode’s Royal Good Productions back in 2016 and again in 2018.

The big cat advocate who played the antagonist to break out star and now inmate, Joe Exotic reportedly despised the original series. Baskin went into the project thinking it would draw attention to her Big Cat Rescue, but instead the focus was on the feud between she and Exotic, and the mystery surrounding her first husband, Don Lewis’ disappearance.

It’s anyone’s guess how this one will come out as it is said to all come down to “the fine print” in the contract the Baskins signed all those years ago.

Howard Baskin didn’t mince words in a statement he gave to Deadline on Monday afternoon, saying, “While we cannot stop Netflix and Royal Goode Productions from producing low-brow, salacious and sensational programing, we do believe that we have the right to control footage filmed of us under false pretenses. We like to believe that most Americans will agree that we should be entitled to protect our reputations in this manner and hold entertainment giants to their word.”

    Drama!!!
