It’s no secret Britney Spears is writing a book about her experiences. The news broke a while back, but now the singer is opening up publicly about the process and giving a hint as to what fans might expect from her memoir. Here’s what you need to know.

    Britney Spears talks about writing

This isn’t the first time Britney Spears has talked about writing.  She has shared a post or two detailing fictional stories, but now she’s talking about the book we’re sure most will be looking for. She actually used this to explain some of why she shares certain things on her Instagram account.

Said Spears, “I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic, it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life. I’ve never been able to express myself openly. I can only imagine that I do sound childish, but I was extremely young when those events took place, and addressing it now, I’m sure it seems irrelevant to most and I’m completely aware of that. But instead of using my heart, I’m using the intellectual approach.”

The post, which was published in three images on her account, talked about some of the experiences she’s dealt with and gave some insight into her life in the music industry.

“When I was younger, there was more of a playful and lighter approach to everything. It was easy not taking yourself so seriously. Yet in this business—I will just say it—I was indeed treated less than,” wrote Spears.

She went on to talk about feeling unheard, saying, “I was screaming inside and no matter what I said, it was always looked down on.”

Britney Spears on being an example

In the post, she went on to describe her conservatorship as a cult. One where her father was never available. So, when she would try to speak, it was looked down upon. However, she also talked about how the whole situation was actually a good lesson. One in what not to do, and then she urged fans to be good examples.

Said Spears, “During Covid-19, I went to Target to pick things up at the store. I live in the sticks, so it was an hour’s drive. When I finally got there, I was told by a lady and my father that I could not get out of the car. My security got out of the car and I waited. Hundreds of kids and adults going in. I’ve never felt more like nothing in my life.”

She added, “Of course, they say now that never did that because they forgot. Unfortunately, I don’t forget, and I’m here to remind people what not to do.”

Britney Spears also wrote about wanting people to be better for the next generation, and that’s a message we can definitely get behind. Especially if you’ve ever spent time on Twitter. This message was driven home even more, as it followed an account of having several childhood friends visit while she was working in Vegas. According to the singer, the friends looked the other way and drank champagne while Spears was left to wait for them, unable to even enjoy the spa. Just listening to some of the stories the singer has shared, one can only imagine what her book will reveal.
