It appears as though Britney Spears might have cut the cord on her relationship with her father, Jamie Spears. There’s a new report that suggests Britney has not spoken to her father in well over four months because of their ongoing conservatorship battle.
According to Page Six, Jamie told CNN that he believes their estrangement is the result of the singer’s attorney taking control of the situation. However, he did defend his role in controlling Britney’s finances. Britney’s attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, said at a hearing last month that the singer had become afraid of her father and that she wanted him removed entirely from her conservatorship.

“I love my daughter and I miss her very much,” Jamie said of his pop star daughter. “When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally. I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family.”
With that said, Jamie’s attorney, Vivan Lee Thoreen, claims that his relationship was fine with Britney prior to Ingham’s involvement.
“Jamie’s relationship with Britney is not that different than your average father-daughter relationship insofar as there has always been a mutual love and respect for each other,” she explained.
“Until Britney’s court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham abruptly instructed Jamie not to contact Britney a few months ago, Jamie and Britney had spoken often and regularly throughout the entire conservatorship. In fact, they had spoken just the day before and had had a pleasant and collaborative conversation.”
A hearing has been scheduled this week to review Jamie’s handling of Britney’s assets. As many fans know, Britney Spears was placed under her conservatorship back in 2007 after he infamous mental breakdown.
