Prince Harry will be undertaking a series of specially organized appearances in New York City next month during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week, from September 22nd to 29th.
Prince Harry Will Be In NYC To Promote His Various Patronages
The Duke of Sussex will be in New York to try to promote his patronages. He will take the trip solo, as Meghan Markle will not join him.
Prince William may also be in the city at the same time for the third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit, taking place at the Plaza Hotel on September 24th.
The date coincides with William’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, returning to school after summer break. Harry is set to lead an event to honor his mother, Princess Diana.
According to an inside source, Harry will
“participate in engagements with African Parks, the HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst. In addition, he will be furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation, the non-profit organization he co-founded with his wife, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.”
The Diana Award recognizes and celebrates young people who have initiated social involvement in their community.
It is for ambassadors, humanitarians, environmental campaigners, and leaders who have performed exceptional work and made a difference in their communities.
The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental award given to five winners annually for their contributions to environmentalism. William showed up last year for Earthshot, so it’s feasible that he would want to attend again this year.
Harry’s events may overshadow the Prince of Wales’s if they are in town simultaneously. The Duke has been known to try to outshine his brother in countless situations.
Reconciling With His Brother Is The Last Thing On William’s Mind
The Prince of Wales has much to contend with, like his spouse, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles’s cancer findings. He also has to take part in parenting three young children.
Making amends with his brother, especially after the way Prince Harry betrayed him, is not high on his list of priorities. He’ll likely avoid Harry in NYC.
Prince Harry and Prince William last spoke at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. William doesn’t even want Harry at his coronation when he is crowned King.
In March 2021, Oprah interviewed Harry and Meghan. The Duchess of Sussex accused the royal family of racism.
As if that weren’t enough, Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare,” was released in January 2023. He described an altercation between him and William in which William allegedly tossed Harry onto a dog bowl. He said he ended up with cuts all over his body. The fight was about what else? Meghan.
He also claimed that William and Kate were the ones who incentivized him to dress in a Nazi outfit to a costume party in 2005, which became a scandal that was all over the British tabloids.
Harry had to apologize publicly and said it was “Probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life.” In his book, Harry hurt his brother and the rest of his family by trashing them. It isn’t likely William will forgive him anytime soon.
