British Royal Family News says that if there’s one person who is hoping to end this year sooner rather than later, it’s Queen Elizabeth.
Not only has she had to deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the royal family and the global pandemic that is the coronavirus, but now it looks like things have gotten infinitely messier with Prince Andrew’s controversial connections to dead financier Jeffrey Epstein.
That’s because the U.S. is now demanding that Britain hand over the Duke of York for questioning. But it might not be that easy. Here’s what you need to know.
According to The Sun, the Duke of York has not been caught up in a criminal probe for the very first time. U.S. federal prosecutors have formally asked British officials to turn over Prince Andrew for questioning.
While Prince Andrew denies any wrong doing, there have been reports and even photographic evidence that suggests Prince Andrew was clearly around Jeffrey Epstein during the same time that the disgraced financier was apparently running a sex-trafficking ring behind the scenes.

Many royal observers say this is a surprise move, seeing how this comes six months after Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said that Prince Andrew had provided ‘zero cooperation’ with their probe into Epstein, according to the Daily Beast.
But that’s not where Queen Elizabeth’s problems end. There’s also the fact that many British citizens are upset that the U.S. refuses to hand over Anne Sacoolas, the woman who was accused of killing 19-year-old Harry Dunn back in August of 2019. Should the U.S. continue to protect Sacoolas, that means Britain might not be as cooperative in handing over the Duke of York.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the issue but we will definitely update you with more details as they come in.
On top of all of this, Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family have also been criticized for not speaking up about Black Lives Matters.
Elaine Lui, who is best known for her blog Lainey Gossip, and also someone who has the same circle of friends as Meghan Markle, told Newsweek in an interview that Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the monarchy should at least say something about systematic racism and the injustices many people have seen in both the U.K. and the U.S. So far the only person who has made any comments about the Black Lives Matter movement is Meghan Markle in a passionate commencement speech to her high school alma mater.
Lui told the site, “I would have liked to see a comment because, as we are all processing at this time, Black Lives Matter is a human rights issue. It’s an issue of inequality. I understand that there are some people who believe it’s a political issue or that it can be politicized but as a citizen of the world myself I don’t agree with that. I don’t think it’s a political issue. I think it’s a human issue. So, I would have liked to see the royal family say something.”
