There is a new report that says the chief of London’s Metropolitan Police has stated that his department is reviewing its files on Prince Andrew. Alleged sexual trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, stating that Prince Andrew repeatedly sexually assaulted her when she was 17. “As a result of what’s going on, I’ve asked my team to have another look at the material,” the police chief, Cressida Dick, said on a monthly call-in radio show she hosts. “No one is above the law.”
“Of course, we are open to working with foreign authorities,” the police chief continued. “Obviously, within the limits of the law, if they ask us for something, we will give them all the help.”
She said the department is not, however, opening an official investigation at this time.
Virginia Giuffre has accused Prince Andrew of sexually assaulting her in 2001, when she was 17 years old. Andrew, the third of Queen Elizabeth II’s four children, has repeatedly denied this claim.
In a statement, Virginia said she was “holding Prince Andrew accountable for what he did to me.”
“The powerful and rich are not exempt from being held responsible for their actions. I hope that other victims will see that it is possible not to live in silence and fear, but to reclaim one’s life by speaking out and demanding justice,” she added.
