While it’s definitely not easy growing up knowing that one day you will be the King of England, it’s also not easy growing up with that kind of pressure, too. If that weren’t enough, there’s also all of the critics and naysayers who do nothing but spread negativity about the royal family and one online streaming networking going as far as to mock you in a new satirical animation.
That’s exactly what Prince George is facing, as his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton face the dilemma of how they are supposed to talk to him about the television cartoon that is seemingly mocking him and his family. Here’s what you need to know.
Will Prince George Get Teased For ‘The Prince’ By His Schoolmates?
Gary Janetti’s new animation, “The Prince,” is an adult cartoon on HBO Max that takes a satirical look at the British Royal Family, but from Prince George’s point of view. In it, the cartoon version of George says to a staff member: “Excuse me, do you have any tea that doesn’t taste like piss?”
The 12-episode series (now streaming) also features Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry and Sophie Turner as Princess Charlotte. Social media users reacting to the trailer criticized the show’s insensitive portrayal of Prince George, who is depicted as bratty and spoiled and strangely enough, is obsessed with Kelly Ripa. At one point, he even called his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth a “bad bitch.”
And now royal commentator Roberta Fiorito told the Royally Obsessed podcast that children should not only be off-limits when it comes to these kind of things, but that Prince Wiliam and Kate Middleton are also facing an uncomfortable talk with their son over this cartoon.
She said, “Even if George himself is eight and his parents don’t give him permission to watch it, he’s old enough that his peers and classmates will likely see it. This is going to have to be a conversation that Kate and William have to uncomfortably have with George. George at eight will not understand why this is happening. I just think it’s really inappropriate to go after a kid.”
Roberta added, “Go after the Royal Family, I think there is plenty of stuff to make fun of with Charles, Camilla, William or anyone else. However, kids should be off-limits in my opinion.”
