British Royal Family News say that Prince William has been slammed for not wearing his face mask during a mental health campaign appearance this past weekend. The future King of England was joined by frontline workers, local fans and Heads Up supporters to watch the FA Cup final.

While many royal fans have praised both Prince William and Kate Middleton for bringing so much awareness to mental health issues and the need to open dialogue up about it, critics can’t help but wonder if Prince William watching a football match while not taking the proper precautions during a global pandemic is the way to do it. Here’s what you need to know.

British Royal Family News: Prince William Slammed For Not Wearing Face Mask During Mental Health Campaign Appearance

As President of the Football Association, Prince William was on hand to not only host a viewing party for the FA cup final, but also to meet with guests, listen to their mental health stories and the frontline workers’ experiences of life during the coronavirus pandemic. However, new photos from the official Kensington Royal Instagram page suggest that Prince William perhaps didn’t practice as much social distancing as he should have and certainly did not wear a mask, either.

Of course, it didn’t take very long for critics to express their thoughts on this. Many took to their social media accounts to write, “How can a viewing party for a football match be the culmination of a mental health campaign?” along with, “That’s it? That’s the end of the campaign? Was anything actually achieved? Seems like this Heads Up campaign was basically nothing more than some PR pics.”

Another critic put it this way, “Starting a conversation is only the very first step in a mental health campaign. It has to be followed up by educating the public and creating and funding project, or support structures that can actively help and create change. I’m not seeing any of this from the Cambridges.”
