British royal family news has found that Prince William and Kate Middleton are among the royal family members that have sent birthday messages to Captain Tom Moore this week. Moore has been working tirelessly over the past number of weeks as he bids to raise money for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom to celebrate his 100th birthday.
The hero celebrated his landmark birthday on Thursday, and to top off a wonderful day for Moore, it was revealed that he had surpassed the £31 million mark in his charity effort. The funds that he has raised will be going towards the NHS Charities Together fund. His special day was even marked by the traditional letter from the Queen that is sent to everybody that turns 100.

The Queen also made Moore’s birthday even more special as he was promoted to a new position- Honorary Colonel. His achievement is staggering, as he only set out to raise £1000 for charity. However, his effort quickly gained the attention from millions on social media, which saw his target surpassed in just days.
Kate Middleton and William also wished Moore a happy birthday with a touching photo on their Instagram story. The picture used was of Moore holding the birthday card that he has received from the Queen as well as calling him a ‘fundraising machine’. The final total that has been raised by the 100-year-old is yet to be made official, but there are already growing calls for the veteran to be named in the next honours list.

Camilla and Prince Charles also got involved by passing on their well-wished by posting a wonderful picture including Moore. Boris Johnson also revealed the appreciation that he has for his fundraising efforts by admitting that he has lifted the spirit across the whole nation. Moore was interviewed following the awarding of the Honorary Colonel accolade and he admitted that he was ‘touched’ by the honour.
