According to the Daily Mail, Prince Charles and his staff were none too pleased when Prince Harry released a statement confirming his relationship with Meghan Markle back in 2016. This was because he was about to embark on his own royal tour of the Middle East, which was very important at the time.

This revelation was made in the new book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. “When Harry decided to make an official statement, the only stumbling block was Prince Charles,” the book alleged, as quoted by the outlet.
Staffers over at Buckingham Palace were particularly concerned because Harry and Meghan’s romance now overshadowed what was supposed to be a very historic visit made by a member of the British Royal Family. Instead of focusing on Prince Charles’ trip to the Gulf states, Harry and Meghan were the ones who made media headlines for their new romance.
“It was a critical moment that had been in the works for months,” the book claimed, as quoted by the outlet. “A statement from Kensington Palace condemning the press and, in the same breath, confirming Harry’s new girlfriend would all but eliminate coverage of Prince Charles’ tour of the Gulf. The palace decided to go ahead with the statement nonetheless, much of which was drafted by Harry himself.”
