While Blake Shelton is known for cracking jokes and being someone who is always fun-loving and easy going both on and off set, if there’s one role that he takes very seriously, it’s his role as a stepdad to his fiancé Gwen Stefani’s three sons. Here’s what he has to say.
Blake recently opened up about his relationship with Gwen’s three sons, Kingston, 15, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, 7. She shares the boys with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. But Blake says that it was his own stepfather who taught him how to approach fatherhood, even if it’s not what other people would expect.
Blake Shelton Is Taking His Role As A Stepdad Very Seriously
“I don’t know if it’s as hard or harder or not as hard as being an actual, biological parent, you know?” Shelton said in an interview with KFROG’s “The Ride with Kimo & Heather.”
“I have a stepfather in my life who’s one of my heroes. I love my stepfather and I look up to him and he’s like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life for how to do this and the kind of stepdad I want to be. And I take it very serious.”
Blake also says that while he takes parenting very seriously, he sure loves to have fun with them, too.
“But I also have a blast with it, I’m not gonna lie,” he said.
“I don’t take it so serious that I’m not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we’re five years into this thing. I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.”
Just recently, Gwen Stefani was granted an annulment by the Catholic Church just so she can get married at a church again but this time with her live-in beau, Blake. The Roman Catholic Church does not allow remarriage after a divorce unless the earlier marriage is annulled.
The insider went on to say that the annulment, which stood in the way of Stefani and Shelton tying the knot in a church, was a “huge relief” for the singer, who “wanted to get married by her priest and have the marriage recognized by the Catholic church.”
