She may be one of the biggest stars in the music industry right now, but even Billie Eilish has her personal hang ups. In fact, the chart topper recently opened up about her “terrible relationship” with her body. Here’s what she has to say.
In an interview with The Guardian, the singer discussed how she feels about her body and how looking at certain images on social media made her feel bad about her own self. Eilish is currently promoting her second album, “Happier Than Ever.”
Billie Eilish Opens Up About Her Body Image Struggles
Eilish spoke about her insecurities which are exacerbated by social media comparison, even though she knows many of the images have been retouched. “I see people online, looking like I’ve never looked,” she said. “And immediately I am like, ‘oh my God, how do they look like that?’ I know the ins and outs of this industry, and what people actually use in photos, and I actually know what looks real can be fake.”
Eilish added, “Yet I still see it and go, oh God, that makes me feel really bad. And I mean, I’m very confident in who I am, and I’m very happy with my life… I’m obviously not happy with my body, but who is?”
She also said that her new song, OverHeated, is about how some people try to promote unattainable standards.
“It’s completely fine to get work done – do this, do that, do what makes you feel happy,” she said. “It’s just when you deny it and say, ‘Oh, I got this all on my own, and if you just tried harder, you could get it.’ That makes me literally furious. It is so bad for young women – and boys, too – to see that.”
