Beyond the Edge is the latest celebrity fish-out-of-water offering to come to CBS this coming spring. Described as a Survivor-like, challenge-based reality competition, the big twist is that at-home viewers get to watch (pseudo) celebrities match wits, strategy and muscle.

While details are somewhat scarce for now, the project is believed to have wrapped it’s 2 month filming in Bocas del Toro, Panama this past October.

The entire cast is not yet known, but contestant names that have leaked are newly minted Real Housewives of New York star, Eboni K. Williams, Full and Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin, The Bachelor alum and freshly ‘out’, Colton Underwood, supermodel Paulina Porizkova and former sports stars- ex-NBA baller Metta World Peace and ex-NFL star Ray Lewis.

So far, it is sounding a lot like a mash-up of Survivor and the smash U.K, reality show, “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here”. The latter reality show never really took off in the U.S. despite attempts by both NBC and ABC to bring the format to the American audience.

This time it is CBS and Renegade 83- the team behind Blind Date, The Surreal Life and Naked and Afraid bringing he D-listers into your living room.

Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst is also involved in the project and though it is unsure exactly in what capacity, it is expected he will be signing on as an executive producer for Beyond the Edge

Meanwhile, busy as always Probst and his team have just wrapped season 42 of Survivor in Fiji. Season 41 is concluding this week with a three hour finale on Wednesday, December 15 on CBS.

Season 42 of the long-running reality series will premiere on the same channel in March 2022.
