Beyond Salem spoilers reveal episode one was released on September 6th, 2021. The show has been heavily hyped and they’re also doing a hard push for Peacock Network. Is the series worth all the build up? Let’s take a look at our first impressions of the mini-series.
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: Background
First, for those who don’t know, Beyond Salem is a five-episode spin-off of the main show. Beyond Salem spoilers indicate the plot revolves around a stolen peacock (see what they did there?) that contained a number of valuable stones. These stones are apparently spread far and wide, as is the cast. So, that’s an element that ties all the various stories together. So, how did episode one rate?
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: Throwback
First, we loved how they changed up the hourglass opening while still keeping it very true to the main show’s. However, they also added another opening sequence in that showed all the cast members’ names. It was nice to see that, as so few shows put in the effort for that now. After all, no opening sequence means more commercial time.
Plus, they also did a lot of establishing shots that kind of gave us ‘90s Aaron Spelling vibes. Again, something a lot of shows don’t bother with now, but it’s a nice detail that we think adds to the fun. It was also nice to see former DOOL and Melrose Place star Lisa Rinna back in action as Billie Reed. Her first scenes were with Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and they turned out to be a lot of fun. We’re also getting a kick out of how this ISA agent seems a little goofy.
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: Starstruck
While we thought they went a little overboard in the praising of a certain real-life figure in comparison to the other figures mentioned, we did get a kick out of the powerful and rich people Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) knows. Not to mention how the rest of her family reacted to the news she’s close with these people.
It gelt a bit braggy at times, but we think it’s coming from a good place. Paulina seems determined to impress them all and make this trip an unforgettable experience. Totally fits in with Paulina’s character, in our opinion. She messed up hard, so she’s going to make up for it hard.
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: Changes
Finally, let’s take the changes. Beyond Salem spoilers indicate WilSon are also a big part of the action. However, with Freddie Smith declining to reprise the role, a new Sonny Kiriakis was needed. Ultimately, Zach Tinker was cast in the role, and we think he’s doing a good job so far. It’s not easy to step into a character that’s so known and loved by fans, but we think he’s holding his own.
The interactions between him and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) were nice, and Tinker brought it when Sonny was getting lost in jealously over Will Horton’s (Chandler Massey) iffy behavior. We’ll see how things play out between them. But we wouldn’t be opposed to seeing this actor continue with the part, should WilSon come back home.
