A sequel to Tim Burton’s ‘Beetlejuice’ is reportedly in the works of Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B and Warner Brothers, according to Deadline. It is still in the early development phase and doesn’t even have a script written yet.
‘Beetlejuice’ is a classic film that stars Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, and Geena Davis. A family moves into the house of a deceased couple and are harassed after they hire a malicious spirit, Beetlejuice, to drive them out of the house.
‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel Reportedly In The Works At Warner Brothers & Brad Pitt’s Production Company
The film grossed nearly $75 million worldwide and won an Oscar in 1989 for Best Makeup. It’s gone down as a classic that everyone has seen and quoted over the decades.
Now, with Warner Brothers and Brad Pitt’s company, it looks like they’re going to try to recapture that magic that they caught in the original with Michael Keaton. As of now, there’s no news on whether or not the original actors will reprise their roles.
At the moment, we all know the trouble that Baldwin has been dealing with, and unless Keaton dons the face paint again, it’s likely to be a bust. People today do not want remakes, sequels and other things if they do not have the original actors. Look at the success of things like ‘Cobra Kai’ and even the new Spider-Man movie.
Whether it’s nostalgia or just the continuation of their favorite characters, give us the originals or make something different and unique. We’ll keep you posted on the updates, but with this being so early in the development stage, we have a lot more that we’ll need to see before we shell out cash to see this film.
