It’s been two days since the soap world lost one of their greatest stars on and off the screen when Jackie Zeman passed away at 70 years old following a short bout with cancer, and the tributes have continued to pour out from those in the industry and fans alike.
One of the more heart touching ones came from Anthony Geary, who played her onscreen brother Luke Spencer.
Throughout his career on “General Hospital”, Anthony’s portrayal of the shows’ resident con man and overall troublemaker allowed him to form a bond with Jackie on and off the screen.

As often happens when people work so closely together, they connect on a personal level that makes their relationship an important and sometimes life altering in some ways.
What we miss
In an interview with tvline.com, Anthony paid his respects to his friend and expressed how kind she was.
“For 40 years I was fortunate enough to play Jackie Zeman’s big brother on General Hospital. In all those years, I never heard her utter one disparaging word about any actor, crew member or co-worker. In fact, I never heard Jackie express an unkind word about anyone, ever.
“In a highly competitive profession where ego, feelings and emotions are bread and butter, I’ve found this quality to be extremely rare. I expect it will be even more rare now that dear Jackie is gone. She was quite simply one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever known.”
When it comes to missing someone, we all have different quirks or habits of theirs that stick with us, and for him, it’s her laugh and love.
“I will miss her laugh, and the deep, soulful look in her eyes whenever she expressed the love and pride she had in her two lovely daughters. Tonight, l already miss her and feel a powerful ache where Jackie’s smile used to be.”
For those of us that never had the privilege of meeting her, we’ll remember her for how Bobbie Spencer would walk into a room and take over.
She has a certain energy that pulled out focus toward her, and we never regretted seeing her in action.
But as fans, it’s tributes like Anthony’s and her other castmates that really bring to life the woman she was off camera and how she influenced everyone’s lives for the better.
If there’s a mark to be made and remembered for, that’s the best one.
