The individual set to inherit the Anheuser-Busch fortune finds it deeply troubling that the company that acquired his family’s business utilized a transgender individual to promote Bud Light, stating that such an action would have left his ancestors aghast saying, “My ancestors would have rolled over in their graves.”
In a recent appearance on “TMZ Live,” Billy Busch (not to be confused with the “Extra” host) discussed his book titled “Family Reins: The Extraordinary Rise and Epic Fall of an American Dynasty.”
During the conversation, Harvey questioned him about the Bud Light advertisement featuring Dylan Mulvaney, a move that sparked a substantial boycott. Busch expressed his viewpoint, stating that those who consume beer are concerned about values that are morally upright. “I just don’t think the audience that drinks beer is into transgenders,” he explained.
Anheuser-Busch Heir Billy Busch: “My Ancestors Would Have Rolled Over In Their Graves” Over Dylan Mulvaney Ad
Busch asserted that being transgender is a matter of sexual preference, prompting Harvey to counter that it’s more about identity than sexual preference. This led to a broader debate about biases.
However, Busch remained unwavering, firmly believing that the successors of Anheuser-Busch made a significant blunder. He went on, saying, “People who drink beer care about wholesome things.”
In Busch’s view, the company that took over his family’s legacy should not have chosen a transgender person as the face of Bud Light, arguing that beer enthusiasts seek authenticity in their American brew.
He further explained that he doesn’t believe the demographic that enjoys beer has an inclination towards embracing transgender representation.
It has definitely set Bud Light back, and their product still continues to go unsold. In the end, it doesn’t look like this was the best move for them, of course, hindsight is 20/20. Moving forward, it will be hard for Bud Light to get their legs back under them.
