TikTok User Slammed And Labelled ‘Fatphobic’ After Sharing His 120 Pound Weight Loss Journey

A TikTok user has bizarrely faced backlash after he decided to share his weight loss journey with his followers on social media.

TikTok User Slammed And Labelled ‘Fatphobic’ After Sharing His 120 Pound Weight Loss Journey

The user, who goes by the name of Mark Gaetano, had apparently lost 120-pounds during the course of his journey. In the post here, we can see that there are a series of pictures showing the transformation that Mark has made.

It then ends with Mark dancing in the kitchen to the song entitled ‘Laffy Taffy’ to show off his final figure, which left his users stunned. Clearly, he could not be any happier, given that he has completely changed his appearance.

However, the feedback was anything but positive. The video instantly went viral with an apparent 5 million views and counting.

A large number of people started to comment, with one even suggesting that Mark was ‘fatphobic,’ given that he had allegedly glamourised dieting at the expense of accepting oneself.

In an official statement in response, Mark denied looking down upon overweight people. He said: “My response to those people is that it’s a personal health advancement.

“I am not singling fat people out as a whole and trying to tell my audience that fat equals wrong because I completely disagree with that.”

And yet, there were other people there to defend Mark. That is why lots of fans came out in droves to back him after the criticism that was being levelled against him.

One fan wrote: “So proud of you!!! This is the hardest journey you will ever be on, and it’s a lifestyle not a fad. Keep pushing yourself and making health deposits!! Your future self will thank you!!”

This story has shown the dangers of political correctness going too far. What should have been a moment of happiness, ultimately ended up becoming something that created a lot of stress.

Had it not been for his response, there was a danger that Mark could have faced a huge surge of people unfollowing him. This is sadly the state of social media, which is why cancel culture has now taken on a whole new meaning.
