Well look what we have here. After getting into a heated debate with Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle and race on the Good Morning Britain show, it appears as though Alex has now replaced the controversial British television personality after he was forced to walk away from his job.
Piers was let go by producers of the ITV show because he refused to apologize for stating that he didn’t believe Meghan Markle and her claim of experiencing suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy while she was still a full-time working royal. Here’s what you need to know.
Before taking over Piers’ seat, Alex worked as the weatherman on Good Morning Britain. But on Friday’s show, he sat next to co-host Kate Garraway, which came as a surprise to many viewers.
Alex Beresford Just Got Piers Morgan’s Job On Good Morning Britain
One disgruntled fan wrote, “Turned on GMB and saw Alex Beresford was presenting, switched channels immediately…bring back Piers,” while another wrote, “Why is piers getting so much backlash for speaking his opinion and being unprofessional when Alex here legit did the same thing.”
Another critic wrote, “WTF, Has GMB Bosses gone completely mad, thinking Alex Beresford could replace Piers Morgan, absolute shambles. Alex wasn’t doing his job as he’s a weatherman, he’s took the opportunity to replace him.”
Earlier this month, Piers went off on Meghan Markle one day after he walked off the set of Good Morning Britain.
“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible,” Piers told reporters outside of his home in London.
“I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion,” the outspoken anchor added. “If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.
If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it,” he continued.
This all came after ITV weatherman and Piers’ co-star Alex Beresford basically called Piers Morgan out for having what some people believe is a slight obsession with Meghan.
Alex said, “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.
Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”
