A TikTok video has gone viral after it showed a guest at an ‘Airbnb’ covering up what appeared to be a camera in the apartment.
TikTok Video Goes Viral After Guest Finds And Covers Up A Camera At An Airbnb Apartment
Renting out your home to a stranger can be a daunting thing, given that the tenant could end up doing anything. And yet, by installing a camera within the apartment, there is a feeling that this is going a step too far.
After all, people should have the right to privacy within the confinements of their home. At the same time, however, it could be argued that if somebody does not have anything to hide, then there is nothing to worry about.
In the video here, we can see that the guest has discovered what looks like a ring camera. In response, the person ends up placing a towel over the camera lens so that it is no longer visible.

The video was captioned by the following comments: “That time an Airbnb guest [thought] it was a good idea to put a towel over the ring camera.”
The video understandably went viral, with over 3 million people watching it. And with those views, people had a lot to say on the matter. Some felt that the landlord was acting lawfully by making sure the property was not vandalised.
Others, though, may have agreed with the landlord’s stance but felt that the camera should have been made aware to the tenant. It is not clear whether the tenant was told that there was a camera or whether it was found by chance.
One person wrote: “Yeah no, this sus. They could bring in a ton of people or animals or things not allowed or steal from the home, [you] never know.”
While another stated: “Imagine going outside to talk on the phone and have someone just listening in.” Regardless of which side you stand on, this story will have made any potential Airbnb users more aware of what can happen when you decide to rent an apartment.
With that in mind, it is best to make sure that these questions are put to the landlord before moving in so that there are no nasty surprises.
