It has been revealed that the cause of death for Sonya Eddy, the well-known actress from General Hospital, was due to complications from a non-emergency surgical procedure. This news came as a heartbreaking surprise, as she passed away at the age of 55.

Her friend, Tyler Ford, confirmed that she had been taken to hospital for a procedure that was set to go ahead on Friday, 9th December 2022. During the course of that process, she was discharged two days later. While that may have been the case, it appears as though she began to feel unwell once again.
As a result, she made her way back to hospital on the 15th of that month. And in the process of doing so, she ended up getting an infection. With doctors no longer being able to control it, she was placed on a life support machine. The rest was history, as she then passed away.
She did leave behind a huge legacy, and this was something that those close to her recognised. Actress Octavia Spencer had this to say when she announced that the worst had happened.
She stated: “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her . My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”
The fans on social media were taken aback by the news. Large numbers of people came out in droves in order to express their sadness. And as a result, they hoped that those close to Eddy would be able to heal from this.
One person wrote: “Such sad news…..I haven’t watched GH for a long time, but I remember her character and how real she she came across. She seemed so kind. My condolences to her family and friends.”
