ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) stole the show on Thursday. And there was good reason for that. The show was celebrating the character’s 25-year run. While her official airdate anniversary is months away, Alexis’ current situation lent itself well to paying tribute. Let’s take a look at what happened and what might be.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Bad decisions

So, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Alexis’ current predicament has been a long time coming. She’s been on a downward spiral ever since Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) died on an overdose in her bed.

This led to her hitting the bottle pretty hard. We’ll be honest. We kind of like drunk Alexis. She’s blunt and comes out with some great stuff. However, this is just not sustainable.

Eventually, she ended up nearly killing Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), for which she’s going to Pentonville. It’s admirable the character is taking responsibility. And it definitely got Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) offering some kindness her way.

However, we do think she knows she made a reckless choice in pleading guilty. Throughout the episode, she showed the doubts, even as she admitted needing that massive bottom.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The send-off

While we’ve sometimes been iffy on the character, we have to say the actress did a great job with the story. We loved watching Alexis battle those conflicting emotions about her choice, while also reflecting on her path there, as well as confronting demons from the past.

Add in the sweet moments with different characters, the early graduation celebration for Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos), and the old clips documenting her run so far, and it was perfect.

Certainly better than ‘Days of Our Lives’ gave Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) to mark his character’s anniversary. And that was a 50th celebration! The GH writers really nailed it.

Our favorite part, though, was Alexis’ session with Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom). Unearthing the trauma around her father and the abuse he subjected her mother to is definitely enough to get one in trauma state where they mess up their lives.

But Alexis’ went deeper, as she tapped into the guilt she suffered at not being able to stop the abuse. That’s a heavy load for a small child, it was obvious this was the root of her self-destruction.

In a nice moment, they had the child Alexis in the room with her. Adult Alexis offered love and comfort to little Alexis, healing the inner child wound she’s been carrying all that time.

We’re confident that’s the case, and we’ll see a new Alexis one day soon. They already showed some progress when she offered to help her cellmate with preparing for a parole hearing. There’s just one thing we wonder about.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The downside/The Future

Recently, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal that Alexis was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. At the time, we weren’t impressed. We were hoping something bigger was waiting, and we were right. We just think they did a bit of a disservice throughout this whole downward spiral.

See, they’d stressed how important it was for Alexis to refrain from drinking and take care of herself. She’s clearly done the exact opposite. Yet, it seems that part of her story has been ignored by the other characters. No one has really expressed worry for her physical health.

No mention of meds or any check ups, and she hasn’t seemed to suffer a single ill effect from ignoring her doctor’s advice. We think that should have played at least some part in all this time.

But who knows? Maybe it will come up again. If it doesn’t, we think it was a bit of a cheap lip service moment to give her the disease. Especially if they’re not going to follow up.

As for her future, we don’t see any more trial wins in her future, but we do think she’ll be on the right side of the law. We think she’ll be quite popular in Pentonville if she keeps helping others with similar issues.

And she can definitely use her experiences and legal knowledge for advocacy work. Maybe even become a speaker or author.  We’re looking forward to seeing how her purpose unfolds.
