TLC ‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’ spoilers reveal major setback in the Derrico household. After beating two heart surgeries, pneumonia, and and the flu, little Dawsyn Derrico woke up one night with a cough and vomiting.
Karen sat her up and originally thought that it was just one of those baby things, that she would be okay, but it was soon discovered that she was by no means okay. She became limp and unresponsive, so Karen called 911 and they rushed Dawsyn to the hospital.
The doctors at first thought at first that this was possibly meningitis which would have presented an entirely new set of possible problems for little Dawsyn. So while trying to rule out this condition they test for COVID because that’s routine now.

Karen cannot figure out where she got it because other than to her cardiologist, which is a necessary appointment, little Dawsyn hasn’t been anywhere. Dad Deon is the only person in the house that goes anywhere.
The kids are now quarantined at home where they used to be taken on regular outings to the playground and to basically everywhere. Now they’re homeschooled and everyone is on lockdown, including Grandma Gigi who was afraid to get on her plane back to Detroit because let’s face it, she’s at prime risk, being a 70 year old cancer survivor.
The Derricos had to sit all of their children down and educate them about Coronavirus. After Dawsyn tested positive, several other children had fevers, and Gigi, poor Gigi, ended up with a cough and had to be quarantined away from the rest of the family so whatever she had would not get progressively worse.
The Derrico’s faith remained strong during this trial however, the little ones said “You don’t mess with God.” and “God is in control.” and “God is the coolest.” oh, blessed are they to have the faith of a child.
Having faith did not mean a lack of fear though, like everyone who’s weatheed this pandemic, they were very afraid of the outcome because that’s about the time when people started dying of the disease. No one wants to die of COVID. Especially not when you have such a large family who are depending on you. Will the Derricos make it? Stay tuned!!!
