British Royal Family News says that Prince William knows that as the Future King of England, all eyes are always going to be on him, regardless of what he does or says. That’s why he wants to turn his wrongs into rights and hopefully get rid of his “work-shy” reputation before it’s too late. Here’s what you need to know.
Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle managed to swipe the spotlight from Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were long known for being the most “work-shy” couple in the monarchy.

That’s because year after year they always managed to do the least royal engagements and public appearances compared to the more senior members of the royal family. At one point, it did seem as though William and Kate vacationed more than they actually worked.
In a new Sky News piece called ‘Has the Duke left behind his Work-shy William’ title for good, correspondent Rhiannon Mills says that Prince William has realized during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown that it’s time for him to do more work, especially now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are out of the picture. In fact, he even wants to take more of a “Statesman-like” role.
One source puts it this way, “ In recent years we have seen a statesmanlike shift in William’s demeanour, particularly on overseas tours to countries like Pakistan but also in his recent speeches, like the one he gave when he remotely opened the NHS Nightingale Hospital in Birmingham.
Some of that will be down to William himself, but his former private secretary Simon Case has also been credited with helping that change. He recently left to head up the civil service, but I understand he will continue to advise the Duke.”
Tessy Ojo, chief executive of the Diana Award, also said there has been a “shift” in William lately. She said, “He really shows his own style, and his style is completely different from his mother, I mean from his father, or his grandmother.
Our world has changed and people want to feel that they matter and that’s the thing that he constantly portrays – that your pain is my pain, even though I can’t exactly walk in your shoes, but I can bring the spotlight to your pain to help alleviate it.”
