British Royal Family News says that according to the new book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, Meghan Markle was often branded as ‘The Difficult Duchess’ behind the scenes. Here’s what you need to know.
An excerpt from the book was shared with The Sunday Times this weekend. The extract said, “It was open season on Meghan, with many looking for anything and everything to criticize. Duchess Different. That’s what people have a problem with. She’s the easiest person in the world to work with. Certain people just don’t like the fact she stands out.”’

Right after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in May of 2018, the Duchess of Sussex hit the ground running when it came to her royal engagements and public appearances.
As someone who has always had a strong work ethic, she got up at the crack of dawn and began text messaging her staff with new ideas every morning. It didn’t take very long for the media to pick up on this and apparently, Meghan was left upset at the way her decisive nature was depicted.
The book says, “Meghan felt as though some of the commentary and tabloid stories were more than a culture clash; they were sexist and prejudiced. If a man got up before dawn to work, he was applauded for his work ethic. If a woman did it, she was deemed difficult or a bitch. The double standard was exacerbated when it came to successful women of color, often labelled demanding or aggressive.”
So far neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle themselves have made any comments about the book. It has been noted that they did not participate nor did they contribute to the book in any way or fashion. Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, hits bookshelves August 11th.
