‘General Hospital’ spoilers relate that Maurice Benard is encouraging his fans to “break the chain.” In other words, he wants people to stop public bullying. The actor, who is best known for his role as Sonny Corinthos, shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram account this week.

“I read something today and I thought I should address bullying,” Benard said in the heartfelt video clip. “Ever since I was a little boy, a teenager, or even now, if I hear or see somebody that’s bullied, it makes my blood boil. So I thought I would address the bullies. Stop it. I know you’re only doing it because maybe somebody did it to you, a friend, a parent… you thought maybe, you know, you’ve seen somebody bully somebody else and you thought that’s the way to be, maybe that’s cool. It’s not.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it didn’t take fans very long to respond to Maurice’s post. Many of them thanked the actor for taking a stand against bullying while others wrote, “My son has Tourette’s and before he was diagnosed so many kids bullied him. He is 13. He’s been picked on since he was about 8,” along with, “Thank you Maurice for addressing this serious issue. People gain “courage” on social media. Anonymity is a definite boost for those who want to put down, be mean or hateful. #stopbullying.”
Another fan wrote, “Thank you for this! You are a wonderful man! As someone who has been bullied my whole life, so appreciate people like you! I have autism, so, apparently I’m too different, I’m overweight (working on it), I have to wear glasses sometimes, I’m too short, I’m angry one minute, happy the next, crying the next… they would find every reason to bully me.”
