Vanilla Ice Cancels Texas Concert, Leaves Fans On Ice

It appears as though Vanilla Ice can’t take the heat. After earlier reports indicated that the ‘Ice Ice Baby’ hitmaker was hoping to entertain fans with a 4th of July concert at the Emerald Point Bar & Grill in Austin, Texas, his team has now decided to scrap those plans because of the sudden resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the Lonestar state. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Deadline, Vanilla Ice was hoping to take it back to the early ‘90s but the state of Texas and the ongoing pandemic that is the coronavirus had other plans for him. Initially, the show was supposed to take place at the Emerald Point Bar & Grill, which is located on the shores of Lake Travis with plenty of outdoor seating and extensive grounds to accommodate concerts like the one that Vanilla Ice was hoping for. However, the governor of Texas has since shut down all bars and restaurants in the state because of the uptick in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. Just like in Arizona and Florida, the situation in Texas is getting worse and not better.

“Due to the increase in COVID-19 numbers in Austin we’re gonna move the concert to a better date,”said Vanilla Ice in a video caption posted to Twitter today. “We were hoping for better coronavirus numbers by July but unfortunately the numbers have increased quite a bit so for the safety and health of everyone we’re going to stay home.”

The 52-year-old Robby Van Winkle “Basically, I’m not goin’.  I listen to my fans. I hear all you people out there. Basically, just wanna stay safe,” and promised a brighter tomorrow. “Hopefully, by New Year’s, this corona crap will have a cure! Come on! Go, ninja, go — we’re ready to go!”
