ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers finds that star Maurice Benard admits that the coronavirus lockdown might have actually helped sales of his new book, Nothing General About It. Here’s what he has to say!
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the actor says there were several factors that helped get his book to sell so successfully like it did. Maurice told the publication, “I had been promoting it pretty well for a while, for six, seven, eight months beforehand and I actually think that the coronavirus helped, because so many people were stuck inside and my book is about mental health, and I think a lot of people were suffering from those issues during that time. And my fans are lunatics in a good way! Their devotion is just unreal.”

ABC ‘General Hospital’ News: Maurice Benard Says Coronavirus Helped His Book Sales
Maurice added that he is also touched by the fact that his fans are not only interested in his character Sonny Corinthos, but also interested in him as a person. He added, “That means a lot to me. It’s funny because earlier in my career, it was always about my acting and Sonny and All My Children, when I played Nico, and now, it’s mental health. But I love that, actually, because it’s bigger than me. The book isn’t just about mental health. I’ve got some great stories about ‘General Hospital’ and there are also goats so there are all kinds of stuff. And I thought the book was also a great love story between me and Paula. People say, ‘Your wife is an angel,’ and some say, ‘I don’t know how she put up with you!”
With that said, the book is currently holding steady on the New York Times’ best sellers list as fans can’t get enough of Maurice and all of his stories from the past. Meanwhile, the producers of ‘General Hospital’ have made no comments as far as when the cast and crew will return to the studios.
