British Royal Family News suggests that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be in self-quarantine at their new home in California, but that certainly hasn’t stopped them from feverishly working at home on their new charitable foundation. But at the same time, it looks like the couple’s plans to build their own royal brand and empire beyond the UK might have just been single-handedly crushed by the global pandemic that is Covid-19. Here’s what you need to know.
Earlier this year the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world by announcing that they were looking to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family. And while they were hoping to keep one foot in the door while the other foot out, Queen Elizabeth made it clear right away that was not going to happen.
British Royal News: Meghan Markle’s Plans To Build Her Own Royal Brand Beyond Britain Crushed By Covid-19?
Since then, the couple moved to Vancouver for a short while before deciding to pack their bags and move to Los Angeles, despite all of the unnecessary travel restrictions that have been put in place right now because of the coronavirus. But that didn’t stop Harry and Meghan from not only settling in at their new digs in L.A., but also announcing the name of their new foundation: Archewell.
For a lot of royal critics, this is all too much, too soon. And while Meghan Markle is certainly the kind of person who likes to hit the ground running when it comes to her work, many people believe that she and Harry need to step back for a moment. That’s because the world is more concerned about the coronavirus, and definitely not their plans to build an empire of their own. As of press time, there have been 1.5 million confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus with a death toll of 90,057. That number is expected to rise in the coming weeks. In addition, millions of people have lost their jobs.
So, does this mean the timing of Covid-19 might have single-handedly crushed Harry and Meghan’s dreams of becoming first-class celebrity philanthropists. Maybe. If there are two things that the world don’t want to see much of these days, it’s definitely the coronavirus and anything that has to do with ill-timed and maybe even tone-deaf announcements about celebrity charities, unless it is to help fight the spread of the deadly virus.
