CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) Spoilers tease that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) have shown glimpses of trying to be better, but also the penchant to be swung by those they consider their closest confidants. It’s set up an interesting angle for 2020 that’s becoming more apparent with each passing week.

As much harm as Adam has done to Newman Enterprises and family in general, it’s clear he wanted to turn the corner and be something more than the bain of his father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and family’s existence. He wanted to help. Simple as that. And while it’s understandable that Victor and the rest have reservations about his motives, what we’ve seen is perhaps the real problem.

Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) is supportive and loving of Adam and everything he does. She’s also petty and vindictive like all the best evil queens. Being forced out of the Grand Phoenix may have pushed her more toward the edge of her reasoning, but the truth is she was never that far away.
She was all too eager to see Adam go after the family after being tossed out of the CEO position because Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) accepted it to spite him and protect the family like the good little soldier he is. Adam was on the fence. He was angry and wanted to lash out, but he was holding it back as he tried to be the man he wanted to be.
But her support pushed him toward revenge and the digging up of old bones to crucify his father with. Now, he’s once again shown doubt as to what he’ll do with the information until Chelsea entered the room. Then he was all aboard striking out. There’s nothing worse than for a combative, angry person than to have someone stoking the fire even in blind support. In the coming days, we’ll get to see what’s stronger in him: Chelsea’s support or his desire to be part of the Newman family.
CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Along Came Lola!
What’s kinda funny is up until now, ‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers anyway, is Theo hasn’t been more than a stain that should’ve been washed away, and it’s cool to see him starting to develop some depth besides “Destroy Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)!” mantra he’s been living on for years.
In his quest to take over Kyle’s life and destroy him, Theo has helped break up Kyle and Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle)’s marriage, then move in on Lola before the divorce papers are signed, and be a general pain in the backside. He’s even cuddled up to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) by professing to do everything he can to keep things civil between him and Kyle while voicing some of his doubts and concerns.
Jack bought it and brought him home to see Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams), and it seemed to change something within him because when he left visiting Lola he replied in a text to hold off on digging up more dirt on Kyle. Of course, he’s still interesting in Lola, or is he?
It was apparent that she was only showing interest in him because it upset Kyle and it gave her a reason to lash out. Now that Kyle’s divorced (pun intended) himself from it, her interest immediately waned. It’s expected that Theo’s attempts to woo her will backfire, and if it does and Lola mentions she talked to Kyle, things could really heat up. If she refuses him, he could take it that she still cares for Kyle and he must destroy him. He could also view it as losing her favor because Kyle is such a nice, sweet guy.
Either way, he could revert back to his revenge-oriented thinking and go on the attack because one of the people he now values has turned her back on him. In his mind, anyway. Like Adam, he’ll be facing a choice between staying true to the new him Jack helped awaken or allow himself to return to what he was after losing the support he craves. Both men are similar in many ways as they need and crave the support of someone they care about and will do anything to reward that support almost to their detriment.
