Kate Middleton is now “very much in control of her wardrobe.” The future Queen’s senior private executive assistant and stylist, Natasha Archer, stepped down from her role in July 2025 to start her own business.
Kate Has Been Selecting Her Own Clothes Since Her Stylist Stepped Down
That means that Kate has been carefully choosing her own outfits, which is a refreshing change from the celebs and high-profile figures who have stylists.
Granted, this is the future Queen we’re talking about, so it’s easy to imagine she’d be receiving some kind of professional assistance. But not Kate.
Kate was also named Vogue’s Best Dressed Lady for 2025. She has played an integral part in bringing little known labels into the “global spotlight” by wearing their brands.
One of her most impressive choices was a gold Phillipa Lepley gown, which she intentionally picked to wear when President Trump was hosted by the King at Windsor Castle. Gold is President Trump’s favorite color.
Her very intentional choice was a sign of “soft diplomacy.” She wanted the President and First Lady to feel welcome and for them to have common ground.
Last year, Kensington Palace tried to redirect the focus on Kate’s work, not her outfits. Yet, everyone still wants to know who Kate is wearing.
The Princess of Wales is also keen to support British textiles and design. She visited the Radical Weavers charity in Scotland this past week and tried her hand at tartan weaving.
She wove a scarf on a traditional loom and wore a bespoke blue Chris Kerr tartan coat which she co-designed with Johnstons of Elgin to show support for local manufacturers.
The visit emphasized traditional Scottish weaving skills and the hard work of textile charities. Royal experts give credit to “the Kate effect” boosting the fashion industry.
Princess Catherine Is Set to Issue Royal Warrants
Princess Catherine will also issue Royal Warrants, which marks the first time in over a hundred years that a Princess of Wales has done so.
British fashion labels are excited for spring which is when Kate will issue Royal Warrants to fashion brands. With the Princess’s stamp of approval, she has the power to catapult businesses across the globe.
Kate plans to focus on British, sustainable high-fashion brands that have supplied the Royal Household. Some of the potential contenders for this honor include Alexander McQueen, Catherine Walker, Jenny Packham, and Erdem.
Kate prefers to highlight British craftsmanship with a strong focus on brands that prioritize environmental responsibility.
It’s a huge compliment to Kate and to any label that is granted a Royal Warrant. The task was once carried out by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate’s ability to officially endorse brands is another instance in which the monarchy shifts into a more modern form as Prince William and Kate are keen to inspire change.
It’s also been reported that the “Kate effect” will add one billion pounds to the British fashion industry. Princess Catherine is very interested in the creative process and the stories behind the designer’s work.
It’s no surprise she was named “Best Dressed” by Vogue. Her timeless elegance and regal beauty are part of what makes her an icon.
The Princess of Wales has come a long way in her role, which is proof that while certainly giving credit for her work is important, her powerful influence and imprint on the fashion industry is just as undeniable.
