‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) may have a pain pill addiction storyline coming up.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Nick Suffered an Unbearably Painful Leg Break
Nick was recently involved in a car accident when Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) tried to strangle him while he was driving.
Nick suffered an unbearably painful leg break when Matt made him veer off the road. Matt escaped but was recently recaptured by the Abbotts.
Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) visited him in the hospital.
Nick seemed fine at first, but he was soon begging for Sharon to retrieve the doctor so he could be administered more pain meds.
That was a significant hint to the audience about where the story was headed. Soaps are famous for introducing addiction stories after incidents like car crashes.
Why would feature yet another car accident in the Newman family? We have to wonder if Nick gets hooked on pills.
Josh Griffith also tends to gravitate towards addiction stories. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is a recovering alcoholic, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) was also addicted to pills.
Griffith is partial to that kind of story, and we can see him penning another. Nick was obviously in gut-wrenching pain.
Interestingly, when Nick was in France during the Aristotle Dumas debacle, he fell on a sharp piece of metal and didn’t seem too bothered by it.
That said, we can also imagine Nick getting addicted to pills, Jack helping him overcome his addiction, and Victor Newman (Eric Braden) flipping out over it.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Matt May Have Had Someone Planted at the Hospital to Get Nick Hooked on Pain Meds
Nick was clearly desperate for more pain meds. Soaps love foreshadowing these arcs with little clues like that. Nick was practically demanding that the doctor give him more.
We could also imagine another scenario in which Matt had someone planted at the hospital to get Nick addicted to drugs.
Matt could have slipped him some Fentanyl instead of standard pain meds, which are already risky enough. It would definitely be Matt’s style. After all, Matt tried to force Noah to take the lethal pills.
Remember, when Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) was working with her crazy aunt Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk), she had Nikki hooked up to an IV filled with vodka to drive her back to drinking.
It wasn’t long before Nikki was sneaking swigs of scotch, and whatever else Victor inexplicably left out at the ranch. The Newman matriarch spiraled out of control.
It wasn’t until Jack saved her by almost ODing himself that he convinced Nikki to wake up. Victor is still furious about the night they spent at the GCAC hotel. However, when is Victor not furious with Jack?
Plus, maybe addiction runs in Nick’s family, as they may not know yet how deep it goes. Nick going into surgery may be a sign that Matt’s reign of terror isn’t over yet.
Perhaps Nick leans on Sharon for support to beat it, and they end up getting back together. Many Y&R fans are still holding out hope for a “Shick” reunion.
Could Nick’s addiction be what makes him and Sharon decide to give their love story another shot?
