‘General Hospital’ spoilers declare that the recent episode in which Gio Palmeri (Giovanni Mazza) finally called Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) mom was a beautiful and tender moment that was a long time coming.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Dante Has Been Harsh On Gio When It Comes to Rocco
While Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) has been overly critical of Gio and immediately blamed his firstborn for Rocco Falconeri’s (Finn Carr) legal troubles, we knew that Brook Lynn would be much more empathetic and understanding toward her only son.
Gio was very hard on Brook Lynn when he found out that she had given him up for adoption when she was a teenager. She listened to the sage advice she received and took a step back, opting to wait for Gio to come to her.
Last week, Dante unjustly ripped into Gio and snapped at him, saying that he should be the one in jail, not Rocco. He also accused Gio of throwing his brother under the bus to impress a girl.
Dante basically wrote Gio off as a screw up and walked away. We all breathed a collective sigh of “here we go again” the minute we saw Dante lay into Gio.
The words cut deep, and Gio was crushed. This isn’t the first time Dante has lashed out at Gio while worried about Rocco.
When Rocco was in the hospital for alcohol poisoning, Dante blamed Gio for not calling for help and letting Rocco sleep it off in the Quartermaine boathouse.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Requested Gio to Come to the Hospital to See Brook Lynn
Dante claimed that Gio hadn’t been responsible enough to call him or Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) when Rocco was in trouble.
That incident happened before he learned that Gio is his son. Gio felt guilty in both instances and apologized profusely, but Dante seems to have some difficulty with forgiveness when it comes to Gio.
Gio went to see his mother at the hospital after Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) called him, telling him Brook Lynn needed him.
Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was in the hospital after having a heart attack, and Gio was the one who revived him. Brook Lynn was very thankful and is very proud of Gio.
Unlike Dante, Brook Lynn is able to show Gio some grace even when he makes mistakes, which is normal for kids to do sometimes, but they learn from it, and that’s how they become better people.
Brook Lynn’s heart is breaking for Gio in this situation. She doesn’t want to see her only child in pain. When Gio arrived, he and Brook Lynn sweetly held hands after Gio finally called Brook Lynn “mom.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Scene Was Subtle But Beautiful and Effective
The moment Gio said those words, it brought tears to many viewers’ eyes. It was the moment GH fans had been patiently waiting for. The scene was subtle and sweet, yet very well written and acted, in which we saw the two characters truly connect and bond as mother and son.
The best part was that Gio and Brook Lynn were both comforting each other. Brook Lynn wanted to help Gio with his relationship with his father, and Gio wanted to reassure Brook Lynn that Ned would pull through his medical crisis.
Brook Lynn also made it clear to Gio that she disagreed with Dante and that she felt he was way out of line. It was a wonderful scene, orchestrated by Michael, that made us have all the feels.
Now, we only hope that Brook Lynn and Gio continue down this path and nurture that bond.
It was refreshing to see Brook Lynn know how to support Gio, and, in turn, Gio being an anchor for his mom.
