‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) will celebrate its 60th anniversary milestone in November. Co-head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford also teased fan-favorite returns this fall.

The Peacock soap was also recently renewed for a two-year term. Cwikly and Ford recently spoke with TV Insider and expressed their delight that the show has garnered positive attention.
They said, “We have both been fans of the show for decades, long before either of us got our first job on Days and are thrilled the show will continue at least through season 63 and hopefully well beyond.”
They added, “We couldn’t be happier for the cast, crew, and fans that life goes on in Salem.” The fall season will bring some shockers, but also a feeling of family.
The scribes wanted to honor the soap’s history, as well as the first families of Salem. The new season will kick off major storylines that will continue into the new year.
Some of the fan-favorite characters who will return to mark Days’ 60th anniversary include Sami Brady (Alison Sweeny), Eric Brady (Greg Vaughn), Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves), Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow, and Will Horton (Chandler Massey).
True to form, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) stirs up trouble as the new hospital owner. He’ll also conduct sketchy experiments in his private lab.
Cat Greene (AnnaLynn McCord) is investigating EJ so that we may learn more about his true intentions and perhaps what he’s hiding in that lab.

Additionally, Cat’s proximity to EJ will cause friction between EJ and his brother, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). Chad hasn’t been ready to move forward in a new relationship since Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller).
Now, he’s open to taking a huge emotional risk with Cat as they embark on a romance. However, not everyone is a fan of Cat, and they will no doubt let Chad know it.
Marlena Evans continues to have her “Queen of the Night” dreams, and her health crisis worsens. We think this is somehow connected to “the Phoenix,” aka Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo).
Do EJ’s experiments involve the return of Stefano somehow? We think Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) may know something about it.
Speaking of Tony, he and Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) gain leverage over Phillip Kiriakis (John Paul Lavoisier) and Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer). Will he find out that Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) letter was actually a forgery?
Regardless, Tony’s mission to reclaim his family company places the DiMeras in significant danger. Who targets the DiMera family?
Xander and Sarah Horton Kiriakis (Linsey Godfrey) continue to love each other, but they struggle to find a way to be together.
Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) gets a reminder of her past, which could signal the return of Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark).
Rachel Black’s (Alice Halsey) mental health spirals as she won’t cope well with her mom, Kristen DiMera (Stacey Haiduk), being in prison.

The ten-year-old’s memories also start to resurface, and it triggers major trauma for her. Will she remember the night she shot EJ?
Rachel lashes out in a way that could have life-threatening consequences. Marlena will struggle to come to terms with the truth about Rachel.
Meanwhile, Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) will get closer to uncovering the truth about Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) and the fake adoption.
Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) takes a job as a professor at Salem University. Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) and Johnny revisit their plans to start a family. We would bet money that they end up adopting Tesoro.
Thanksgiving will bring some warm family moments as the writers focus on the core families in Salem. Halloween will bring a major scare to a few key Salemites.
At some point, there will also be a blackout in Salem. It will lead to some surprising temptations and romance, as well as some huge revelations.
Days will also hold its 60th anniversary celebration. The hospital has a gala in honor of the late Tom Horton (Macdonald Carey). It will feature the return of fan-favorite actors who will reprise their iconic roles.
