Beyond the Gates spoilers: Ron Carlivati has confirmed his exit as breakdown writer for BTG. Carlivati’s writing for the soap has been superb.
‘Beyond The Gates’ Spoilers: Carlivati Joined BTG Writing Team At Michele Val Jean’s Request
As a significant member of the soap’s writing team, the drama, plot twists, romance, and excitement, not to mention the snappy dialogue, have proved invaluable, with Carlivati’s signature style all over it.
Carlivati joined the writing team at Beyond the Gates shortly after exiting from his role as head writer at Days of Our Lives in April 2025. He was replaced by new head writers, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford.
Beyond the Gates creator Michele Val Jean worked with Carlivati when they were both writers for General Hospital, and she was thrilled for him to join her writing team.

Carlivati recently took to Instagram and wrote, “A quick career update from me: I recently wrapped up my stint as a writer on Beyond the Gates, the hot new soap opera on CBS created by the incomparable Michele Val Jean.
Carlivati went on to share how he became a part of the BTG writing team, “When Michele called last August and asked me to join her team, I jumped at the chance to be part of the launch of this groundbreaking and historic show.”
He continued, “After recently finishing season one (200 episodes!) I decided to leave to pursue other projects, but I am beyond proud of what we accomplished and beyond grateful to Michele and Executive Producer, Sheila Ducksworth, for this extraordinary opportunity.”
Carlivati concluded, “Wishing them and Beyond the Gates a long and successful run.” We could definitely see Carlivati’s influence and distinctive style over BTG.
‘Beyond The Gates’ Spoilers: Carlivati Has A Unique And Refreshing Writing Style
Ron’s unique sense of humor, hip-hop references, layered and nuanced plots, witty dialogue, and unorthodox writing style didn’t go unnoticed on the soap.
For example, Carlivati’s stamp was on the scenes of Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) in the hospital. Hayley Lawson Hamilton (Marquita Goings) mentioned to him something about going on a “journey.”
“A Fantastic Voyage?” Bill asked humorously. “Slide, slide, slippity slide,” he rapped. Those of you who are familiar with Carlivati’s subtle old-school hip-hop references will get it. “Fantastic Voyage” was a rap song released by Coolio in 1994.

Carlivati put his sense of humor to good use on Days of Our Lives with his Body of Soul soap-within-a-soap, and Halloween episodes. He referenced Dr. Dre in the last Halloween episode he wrote in 2024.
Unfortunately, some fans don’t appreciate his special brand of levity. From a creative perspective, it doesn’t get much better than Ron. BTG was the perfect place for him to showcase his talent.
Carlivati is a long-time soap writer who got his start as a writer’s assistant at One Life To Live in 1996. He went on to be promoted to the position of co-head writer.
Not too long afterward, he took the reins by himself. He remained head writer for the daytime drama until the show’s unfortunate demise in 2012. Carlivati transitioned to General Hospital, where he served as head writer.
There was no reason provided for Carlivati’s exit from Beyond the Gates. However, since BTG films four to six months in advance, viewers will see his work through early 2026.
