According to the Daily Mail, “Royal warrants are always approved by the monarch and are awarded to people and companies that consistently supply goods or services to the royal household.”
In simpler terms, when Kate issues a royal warrant, she’s indicating that she approves of a brand, and their income will likely increase due to her influence.
The last Princess of Wales to have the authority to issue royal warrants was Queen Mary 115 years ago. This prestigious honor was given to Princess Catherine due to the King’s faith in her.
Charles has been entitled to issue royal warrants since he was the Prince of Wales. He was bestowed this privilege from his mother, the Queen, who issued a grand total of 686 warrants during her 70-year-long reign.

The late Queen Mother holds the record for the most warrants granted. These highly coveted public certificates show that the monarch or a senior royal family member is a client or customer.

A company must have supplied goods or services for at least three years to qualify for a royal warrant.

The companies who receive the warrants don’t need to be large and well-known. In the town of Ballater, in Balmoral, Scotland, almost every small shop and local business boasts a royal warrant.
When Kate Middleton awards her warrants, the recipients will be permitted to display this about their business: “By Royal Appointment to Catherine, the Princess of Wales.”
Warrants only expire when the royal who issued them passes away or if the company goes out of business or has a new owner.
The Royal Warrants are sought after due to the prestige and favor they represent and have significant commercial benefits.
Many customers will only purchase their goods and services from companies with the royal stamp of approval or that level of recognition. The old adage goes, “If it’s good enough for royalty, it’s good enough for them.”
Those who possess royal warrants are allowed to exhibit the Royal Coat of Arms on their products, property, and delivery vehicles. It’s a huge honor.
