Kate Middleton hosted her annual Christmas Carol service on Friday, December 6th, at Westminster Abbey. She asked her son, Prince Louis, to keep a secret about her surprise for her daughter, Princess Charlotte, at the concert.
Kate Swore Louis To Secrecy About Charlotte’s Ballet Surprise
When singer Paloma Faith spoke with the Princess of Wales, she expressed her sympathy. Kate responded,
“I didn’t know this time last year it was going to be the year I just had.”
She added,
“The unplanned, but I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times, many who are here today.”
The service featured a wide range of musical performances. One act was a ballet troupe from the Royal Ballet, who entertained Charlotte, as she’s a big fan of the timeless theatrical art.
Louis had already known about the dancers beforehand. Speaking to Paloma Faith about her talk with Louis, Kate exclaimed,
“I said, Louis, can you keep a secret? Because I want it to be a surprise for Charlotte,”
Who loves her ballet classes.
“Very challenging,” Faith said. “For a six-year-old,” Kate Middleton responded. Louis swore he wouldn’t say anything to his sister before the concert. He didn’t say a word for two weeks. Then, on the morning of the concert, Louis asked Kate, “Mommy, can I please tell her? I’m bursting.”
Kate added, “I did the school drop off, and he wanted to tell her, but I think he has hopefully kept it. I don’t think he has said anything. I asked her just before we left, “Do you know what the surprise is? And she said no.”
Louis Wrote A Sweet Note To Decorate The Kindness Tree
Kate Middleton hoped he didn’t tell Charlotte, and it turns out he kept his promise. Charlotte was very excited when she saw the ballet dancers.
Charlotte is a known ballet fan and has been taking weekly private ballet classes at a dance school in south London.
In a photo snapped during the event, Charlotte stood confidently in her ballet pose. Her brother was pleased with himself for remaining tight-lipped about the surprise.
Louis is famous for his silly public antics, such as at Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee pageant in June 2022. During the ceremony, he covered his mother’s mouth with his hand to silence her when she tried to calm him down.
That mischievous move was made after he jumped on his seat, pulled his cousin’s hair, and stuck his tongue out at Kate. It was Charlotte who finally got him to settle down.
He also made funny facial expressions at the Trooping the Color celebrations. He covered his ears in front of the Queen when the plane flew overhead and made noise.
Despite Louis’s cheeky behavior at times, he can be very sweet. Kate had a “kindness tree” in which guests were invited to write the name of someone who helped them during this year to decorate the tree.
Louis wrote a note that read, “Thank you for Granny and Grandpa because they have played games with me.” The little prince may act out sometimes, but he’s tender at heart.
