‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers share that Kristian Alfonso, who plays Hope Brady on the soap, graced our screens on Friday, November 29th, when Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) called Hope to break the news that her father, Doug Williams (Bill Hayes), had passed away.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Hope’s Memories Of Doug Came Flooding Back
Fortunately, Hope had her son, Shawn Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer), there to comfort her. Days pulled out all the stops to celebrate Doug and Hayes, as flashbacks of him and a young Hope were shown.

Hope remembered the gold watch Doug and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) gave her for her 18th birthday. She also recalled her father giving her a present for her pregnancy: a blanket her mother knitted for Shawn Douglas. Hope thinks about Doug playing the piano for her.
This montage of flashbacks kicked off the return of several significant characters for Doug’s funeral. Doug’s passing has paved the way for his “Princess” to come home and mourn his death with Julie.
It’s going to be a heart-rendering, somber affair. Hope was about to make her way back to Salem with Shawn. She went to see Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), who’s still in a coma after Shawn shot him, believing her was going to hurt Hope.
She told him about how her father passed away. She was somehow in denial that this day would ever come, which was very touching and relatable. That is how many people feel concerning the demise of their parents.
As Hope relayed the information to Bo, a miracle occurred that may have delayed her travels. Bo moved his finger and showed signs of waking up.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Bo And Hope Will Get Their Happy Ending This Year
Bo is Hope’s true love, and she’s been waiting for him to come out of his coma for a long time. But it wasn’t supposed to go down this way. Alfonso told Soap Opera Digest in a recent interview that she’ll never get over not being able to play the story that was supposed to transpire with Bo and Hope.
“The story was going to be told was that Hope would return to Salem, Bo, and Hope would return to Salem to reunite, even after the shooting, he would be fine, and all these good things were going to happen, and we would reunite with our families,”
Alfonso explained.
The soap’s decision to nix the story has deeply affected Alfonso since Hope couldn’t have another scene with Doug and Julie as a family. Since Bill Hayes has passed away, it is even more devastating.

That being said, it looks like Fancy Face and Bo will get the happy ending they deserve this year. However, Alfonso will always regret not being able to play more with Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes.
Alfonso expressed her disappointment to Soap Opera Digest,
“I will never get over that I didn’t get the opportunity to tell the story in its original form,”
She said.
“I would have had scenes with Bill and Susan together as a family. So that, I am very sad about. The whole story idea was great, and I was looking forward to it.”
