‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers confirm that Days won’t be the same without John Black (Drake Hogestyn). Hogeysty passed away just one day before his 71st birthday.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Almost Every Family In Salem Is Connected To John
Hogestyn’s final scene on Days was September 9th. We don’t yet know how the show will send him off, but we do know the funeral will be very moving, as almost every family in Salem is connected to John.
The original storyline was that John, not Eric Brady (Greg Vaugn), would discover that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) was innocent. But it looks like they rewrote it at the last minute.
We’re not entirely sure if that’s the case, but we think the show wants to respect Hogeystyn’s family so soon after his death before they penned his onscreen demise.
When Brady remembered that he wasn’t the one who hit Sarah Kiriakis (Linsey Godfrey), leaving her in a wheelchair, Eric was the one who was by his side.
Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) was the parent who went to the police station to see Brady and hug him warmly when she knew he would be exonerated.
Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and John were also business partners at Black Patch. Instead of John helping him, Steve has been investigating Cat Greene (AnnaLynn McCord) alone. Cat posed as Abigail DiMera and conned Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn).
On the show, John is visiting with his dad at an old family farm. She said he has many wonderful memories from growing up there.
When John’s death is addressed, his kids will be devastated. His sons, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) and Brady, his daughter, Belle Black (Martha Madison), and Marlena’s daughter, Sami Brady (Allison Sweeny), and her son, Eric, will be affected.
His grandkids will also feel the loss. Tate Black (Leo Howard), or as John affectionately called him, “Tater Tot,” was close to him.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: John Black Should Go Out As A Hero
Claire Brady (Isabel Durant), Will Horton (Chandler Massey), Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), and Carrie Brady (Christie Clark) will return to say goodbye.
Brady will be especially heartbroken, as John has helped him through his ordeal with alcoholism and has always been a good source of support and encouragement.
Whether Days would recast John has never been in question. The soap would never do that because some legendary actors can’t be replaced. For example, John Aniston, who played Victor Kiriakis, is another one of those actors.
Whatever the show scripts for his end, John’s death, like his life, will most likely be epic. He may go out fighting an enemy or defending his family from an enemy.
Many fans are complaining that the show’s filming so far ahead in seven to eight months is ludicrous. They are only now just getting ready to air Doug Williams’s (Bill Hayes) death, and the funeral is set to be this fall. Bill Hayes died in January at the age of 98.
Hopefully, the show does John justice when they write him out. Maybe he dies off-screen and goes out a hero, saving someone’s life. That would be quite the ending for such a memorable character and an even more wonderful actor.
