‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal Blaze’s exit (aka Allison Rogers, played by Jacqueline Grace Lopez), which neither we nor the actress saw coming.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Blaze And Kristina Had More Story To Tell
We wonder why the show chose to let go of this one. Blaze was in a romance with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and was in a front-burner story with so much more to tell.
Blaze represents the face of two underserved communities. She’s a Filipino Mexican American woman, and her character is gay.
We can’t help but think the show could have gone further with Blaze and Kristina. Thanks to Blaze’s meddling mother, Natalia Rogers (Eva LaRue) and Ava Jerome (Maura West), their official outing was riveting to watch as Blaze and Kristina were forced to admit their relationship.
Blaze had still not come out to her fans, and Kristina kept their relationship under wraps. When everyone found out the truth, both young women’s careers were canceled, as no one wanted to associate with someone who was “ashamed” to be gay.
There was still the question of whether Natalia would have eventually come around had the story gone in a different direction. Natalia’s recent scenes with Kristina showed that she was still an intolerant and insufferable shrew.
After Natalia asked Kristina to let go of her daughter, Kristina had to say goodbye to “Alli” even though Blaze insisted that she wanted to stay and help her through the loss of her baby.
The only good thing that came out of Blaze’s exit was that she got to fire her mother before she left. “You got what you wanted. Kristina broke up with me, and now I’m breaking up with you,” she spat at Natalia. We all cheered Allison on during those scenes.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Lopez Said Her Peace
Lopez expressed her sentiments to her fans on Instagram,
“Not gonna lie. This goodbye hurts. I think because I didn’t see it coming. That and when you spend almost two years with this group, you start to feel like part of the fabric. I’m so grateful to Frank Valentini for asking me back. I am grateful to everyone I got to tell stories with in front of and behind the camera,”
Jacqueline said.
She was thankful she got to represent her nationality and tell her story as a strong Latino woman.
Lopez also talked about her gratitude to the fans.
“GH fans! My heart is so full. Especially the fans that embraced Blaze’s journey as a gay woman and formed a community around each other as a result. Y’all got me through some moments. I poured myself into this story because I knew it was going to matter. I just didn’t know how much. You have humbled me, reminding me the need for feeling seen onscreen is absolutely universal to all marginalized communities. I learned that through Allie. Through you. Ultimately, my joy in this work is to help people feel seen,”
She explained.
“And for that reason alone, this chapter of Blaze was an absolute gift. It feels so sudden, but I have trust in timing. Heading out of Port Charles with nothing but gratitude. Thank You.”
