Britney Spears has secured a production deal with Universal Pictures to make a movie based on her tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me.”

Speculation Is Swirling Over Who Will Play Britney

Filmmaker Jon M. Chu will direct, and Marc Platt will produce. Universal also scored the music rights to Britney’s music. Now, speculation is swirling over who will play the pop princess in the film.

A few names have been thrown around, and some have suggested they were the right woman for the job. Britney has the final say on who is chosen to step into her overpriced, stylish shoes.

Actress Millie Bobbie Brown is interested in playing the “Toxic” singer. She said that if she were ever to star in a biopic, she’d want it to be about Britney Spears.

In 2022, in an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Brown praised the pop legend and said it’s her “personal goal” to play Britney in a film.

She explained that Britney’s story “resonates” with her, and watching Spears’ videos and interviews throughout her career has given her a sense of “connection.”

Even Britney found this odd and said almost as much when she took to social media and tipped-toed around her hesitation, saying,

“I hear about people wanting to do movies about my life….dude, I’m not dead!!!”

Sydney Sweeny’s name has also been mentioned. She’s been acting since she was a pre-teen and has the acting chops to tackle some of the book’s more dramatic chapters.

    Sidney Sweeney

Disney actress Dove Cameron is another potential Britney. She has an impressive background in acting, dance, and music. She’s also a great fan of the “Me Against the Music” singer.

Of all the names suggested for playing Britney, Addison Rae has the most similarities with Spears. She grew up dancing, and like Britney, Rae is from Louisiana. Rae also has experience with singing and acting.

The upcoming biopic will certainly rattle Justin Timberlake. Britney doesn’t exactly provide a glowing description of the singer in her memoir.

The book, released in October of last year, was a massive success for Spears. “The Woman In Me” focused heavily on Britney’s many triumphs and failures.

Not to mention, it gave tremendous insight into her life in a conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears. If you’ve ever wondered why Britney is such a mess, Jamie is the answer.

Another potential reason she’s damaged is what happened between her and Timberlake—the two dated from 1999 to 2002. Allegedly, when Britney was pregnant with Timberlake’s child, he coerced her to have an abortion, which remained a secret until the excerpts from the book were made available.

To protect her privacy, she had a medically induced abortion at home. “If he didn’t want to become a father, I didn’t feel like I had much of a choice,” she said. “I wouldn’t want to push him into something he didn’t want.”

As of January 2024, “The Woman In Me” has sold over two million copies in the US. On the day of its release, spears posted on Instagram that her book had become “The highest-selling celebrity memoir in history.”
